We later arrived at Sensoji Temple (Asakusa Kannon Temple) in the district of Asakusa Tokyo Japan.
This is the oldest temple in Tokyo with nice layout and courtyards:
We entered from the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate)
And wandered leisurely along the souvenir and snack shops on the way to the main temple:
So many yummy treats along the way:
Japanese mini cakes filled with red bean paste:
Why was there such a huge line up?...
mmmm..... they sold fresh Japanese fritters with sweet green tea flavoured filling (below) or red bean / sweet potato paste. It was freshly made, so warm and delicious!
Tried my hand with picking a fortune... and ... phew, a lucky one!
We walked along a little more...
And found a fountain with "Auspicious" water, I suppose it is somewhat equivalent to Holy Water in Catholic Churches:
We finally arrived at the temple. A ceremony was being held inside so we were only allowed to observe behind glass windows.
Afterwards, we found a homemade ice cream shop and had another little treat, mmmm delish!
On our way out, more tantalizing food stands welcomed us..
'Till next time,
xox Lily.
