Hello You! I made these Insanely Addictive Kettle Corn Popcorn the other day and my kids just can't stop eating them! This is the perfect crowd pleasing appetizer for Day 16 or the letter "P" of the A - Z Blogging Challenge.
What is kettle corn you ask? Kettle corn is a nice flavour combination of sweet and savoury, tastes like very light caramel with a hint of salt and it is surprisingly delicious, probably one of the healthiest "junk" food and super simple to make. All you need is a few minutes of your arm muscles ; ) read on to find out more!
Ingredients:
¼ cup vegetable oil
⅛ cup confectioners sugar
⅛ cup brown sugar
½ cup popcorn kernels
salt to taste
Directions:
Heat oil in a large pot with lid using medium heat. Add 3 kernels in the pot to test the readiness of the oil, cover the pot with lid.
In the meantime, combine both sugar
and mix well while keeping an ear out for the 3 kernels in the pot:
When the kernels pop that means the oil is hot and ready:
Add the rest of the kernels and sugar:
Cover with lid and lift the pot and shake it a few times every few seconds so that the sugar doesn't burn in the pot. This is the part where you have to work your arm muscles! You can't skip this step or else you'll be disappointed with burnt popcorn! Depending on your stove, it takes roughly around 3 minutes before the popcorn starts to pop. But keep shaking even when you hear the pop!
As soon as the popping slows down, immediately remove the pot from the stove. Now it's ready!
Here, try one:
And then some...
You want more! Here, have the whole bowl!
'Till next time,
xox Lily.
