Last night we went to watch Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" at the Princess of Whales Theatre, I LOVED it!

We had great Orchestra seats.

The theatre and stage were much smaller than The Pantages Theatre, but they managed to make every scene creative and used high tech to alter the stage.  The show had many exciting and new special effects and the staging and choreography were stunning!  The Phantom appeared more dark and raw and the story was much easier to follow and understand (or is this because I am older... I mean much more mature than when I saw it last?  ; )  And there were many moments where it drew gasps from the crowd.  Such theatrical excitement!   ... And the MUSIC!!.....  ???

Some more info about The Phantom of the Opera:

  • The story is based on the gothic novel by French author Gaston Leroux
  • Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.  Lyrics by Charles Hart.  Book & additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe.  Directed by Laurence Connor.

Jan 23rd is the last performance.  Check it out before it's gone!
